SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Seven Utah athletes born and raised in Utah and nine others with Utah ties are competing for Team USA in the 2024 Paris Olympics, according to the Utah Sports Commission.
Utah natives Haley Batten, Alex “Spiff” Sedrick, Maka Unufe, Taylor Booth, Whittni Orton Morgan, Conner Mantz, Courtney Wayment, and Patrick Hoopes are gearing up as the Olympic Games kick off this week.
In addition to those born and raised in the Beehive State, there are nine other athletes who attended high school or college here preparing to compete, including well-known athletes such as Jimmer Fredette and Conner Mantz.
ABC4 has compiled a list of when these athletes will compete in the summer Olympic games. The times are listed in Mountain Standard Time (MST).
Thursday, July 25
- Maka Unufe — Men’s rugby, United States vs. Uruguay at 7 a.m.
Saturday, July 27
- Taylor Booth — Women’s soccer, United States vs. New Zealand at 11 a.m.
- Patrick Hoopes, alternate athlete — Artistic Gymnastics at 3 a.m., 7:30 a.m., and 12 p.m.
- Lexi Lagan — Women’s Air Pistol at 4:30 a.m.
Sunday, July 28
- Haley Batten — Cycling Mountain Bike race at 6:10 p.m.
- Alex “Spiff” Sedrick, Stephanie Rovetti — Women’s rugby, United States vs. Japan at 8:30 a.m.; United States vs. Brazil at 12 p.m.
Monday, July 29
- Alex “Spiff” Sedrick, Stephanie Rovetti — Women’s rugby, United States vs. France at 7:30 a.m.
Tuesday, July 30
- Taylor Booth — Women’s soccer, United States vs. Guinea at 11 a.m.

- Jimmer Fredette — Men’s Basketball 3×3, United States vs. Poland at 2:35 p.m.
Aug. 1
- Jimmer Fredette — Men’s Basketball 3×3, United States vs. Lithuania at 11:05 a.m.; United States vs. Latvia at 3:05 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 2
- Whittni Orton Morgan — Athletics, Women’s 5000m at 10:10 a.m.
- Jimmer Fredette — Men’s Basketball 3×3, United States vs. France at 10:35 a.m.; United States vs. China at 2:35 p.m.
- Ruben Padilla, alternate athlete — Trampoline Gymnastics at 10 a.m.
Sunday, Aug. 4
- Courtney Wayment — Women’s Steeplechase at 2 a.m. The steeplechase is a 3000m race with obstacles, such as barriers and water jumps.
- Jimmer Fredette — Men’s Basketball 3×3, United States vs. Netherlands at 11:05 a.m.
Monday, Aug. 5
- James Corrigan, Kenneth Rooks — Men’s Steeplechase at 11:04 a.m.
Thursday, Aug. 8
- Chari Hawkins — Women’s Heptathlon High Jump at 3:05 a.m.
Saturday, Aug. 10
- Conner Mantz, Clayton Young — Men’s marathon, at 12 a.m.
While 16 athletes representing the USA lived and studied in Utah, there are also nine athletes competing for Team USA who trained in Utah, such as members of the USA climbing team. To see the climbing schedule, click here. There are also 11 athletes with Utah ties competing for other countries.
