2025 GIRLS CAMP SET TO PROMOTE CANOE SLALOM

Set to provide the next generation of Australian female Canoe Slalom paddlers with the opportunity to learn, grow and connect, the annual Girls Camp will return this January.

Taking place at the Forth River in Tasmania from January 6-7, the event will follow the 2025 Canoe Slalom Age Nationals.

While activities at this camp will be targeted at paddlers aiming for the state team, all ages are encouraged to attend.

Paddle Australia Performance Pathways Lead for Canoe Slalom Ros Lawrence is thrilled to see the event confirmed, noting exposure to other paddlers in a similar demographic is important for up-and-coming paddlers.

“There are much lower numbers of Women than Men in Slalom and many girls find themselves in training groups, camps or on tours where they are far outnumbered,” said Lawrence.

“On top of this, paddlers are spread far and wide around our country, and may not often get the chance to paddle with others their age.

“The aim of this Camp is to bring female paddlers and coaches from around the country together to build stronger social bonds while also improving their paddling skills,” she said.
