Pep Guardiola admits Ederson could leave Manchester City this summer | Manchester City

Pep Guardiola has admitted Ederson could leave Manchester City this summer. The Brazilian goalkeeper has spent the past seven seasons at the club and won a host of major trophies during that time, including six Premier League title and the Champions League.

Ederson has two years remaining on his current deal with City but has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia in recent weeks. Guardiola acknowledged after City’s 4-3 pre-season defeat to Celtic in North Carolina yesterday that the 30-year-old may leave the club sooner rather than later.

“I don’t know – he has to see maybe now other options,” Guardiola said. “Of course I’d like him to stay. Depends now the clubs. I don’t know the situation. No contact in the last days. A question of training and being with us until the transfer window finishes and we see what happens.”

Guardiola’s uncertainty was in contrast to his sentiments when asked about Kevin De Bruyne before the game against Celtic. The manager insisted De Bruyne was not leaving, but Ederson, who has made 332 appearances for the club since arriving from Benfica for £34.9m in June 2017, appears set to make a decision over whether or not to bring his time in Manchester to an end this summer.
