Saint Bernards' Owner Has A Picnic, Chaos Ensues After Dogs Hear 'Cheese'

Many people lack the willpower to resist a piece of yummy cheese and the same is certainly true for dogs.

To test his Saint Bernards’ resolve, an owner from Clayton, North Carolina, held a cheese-feast picnic in his living room. The dogs’ reactions did not disappoint.

In the hilarious clip, shared on TikTok in June, under the username baby.and.bruce, the poster can be seen laying out a blanket for his living room picnic.

Sitting with a banana and a few slices of cheese on a plate, he starts munching away, saying “This the best cheese I’ve ever had,” and soon attracts the attention of his two sizeable pets.

Not being able to resist the savory treat, the pooches gatecrash his picnic and snaffle the cheese from him.

“Cheese was a trigger word for them,” the poster wrote in the caption to the video. But is it a treat that is safe to share with your furry friends?

Is It Safe To Feed Dogs Cheese?

According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), cheese is not only a delicious snack for dogs, it is also a great training tool, especially for puppies.

While cheese is not toxic to dogs, some pups are lactose intolerance, so it’s best to only feed dogs cheese in moderation.

The AKC notes that when feeding your dog cheese, ensure it does not contain products such as garlic, onions and chives. It is also important to avoid giving them cheeses that are high in fat, because that can lead to diseases such as obesity and pancreatitis.

“Therefore, it’s better to feed your dog low-fat cheeses, like mozzarella, cottage cheese, or a soft goat cheese. Cottage cheese is lower in fat and sodium than other cheeses, helping reduce the risk of obesity,” the website explains.

The video quickly went viral on TikTok. At the time of writing, it had received more than 317,000 views and 19,900 likes on the platform.

One user, Morgan Bray, commented: “The way they both just appeared must pay that cheese tax.”

Octoscorp4 said: “I would hug them all day long-between snacks of course.”

Venetiaferretti1 added: “Awww they’re so adorable. Cheese did it. How can you say no to those faces?”
