SIDNEY, Ill. (WCIA) — People still have a chance to register and participate in the Savannah Day 2.96 Memorial Run and Walk in Sidney.
Organizers said pre-registration numbers are lower this year than usual and they are hoping to have a large walk-up crowd to fill in the gaps. On-site registration and raffle ticket sales begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday near the Sidney Fire Department’s station on David Street.
Parking will be at the Sidney grain elevators and the race will begin at 7 p.m. In anticipation of hot weather, water will be set up at the registration table and throughout the racecourse.
The annual run and walk honors Savannah Day, who died in a car crash six years ago at the age of 18. The first edition of the run and walk was held in 2019, less than a year after her death.
The Savannah Day 2.96 Memorial Run and Walk will be the first event of a Sidney Fun Daze, two days of summer fun and activities in Sidney. Updates and more information can be found on the event’s Facebook page.
