ECHO, Utah (ABC4) — Fire officials said the Dikker Hill fire burning just east of Echo in Summit County slowed down overnight but still remains 0% contained.
The fire sparked on Wednesday afternoon, July 24, and has since grown to burn an estimated 360 acres. Utah Fire Info officials said the fire was threatening structures, powerlines, and underground gas lines in the area.
Despite the fire’s rapid growth, Summit County authorities said fire activity began decreasing around 1 a.m. on Thursday, July 25. Only pockets of oak brush burned throughout the night. Air and ground crews have been working to manage the flames.
The Northern Utah Type 3 Incident Management Team took command of the fire at 7 a.m. on Thursday and will be working to establish anchors – or barriers from which to start constructing firelines to contain the fire.
