United Way of Champaign Co. website offers parents resources for young ones

SAVOY, Ill. (WCIA) — The first five years after birth are a golden opportunity to give your child the best start to their life. That’s why the United Way of Champaign County has revamped their website, giving you the blue print on how to connect with your little ones.

There, you can learn when they should be hitting certain milestones, details on nutrition and safety, important doctor visits, potty training and more. But directors at United Way said they’re not done adding resources to help out new parents.

“We want to add information on getting ready for back-to-school, especially for those kindergarteners who are heading off for the first time and how to make that transition easier,” said Beverly Baker, Chief Impact Officer. “We want to add information about car seat safety, and then we want to add more information about poison control, and being outside and riding bikes and wearing helmets and wearing sunscreen — and all sorts of things.”
