DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The newly-imagined Danville Aquatic Center has made quite a splash in the community for its inaugural season.
After closing for refurbishments in 2021, the center transformed from Garfield Park Pool into the Danville Aquatic Center. It finally reopened on June 15. Since then, city officials have called the revamp a success.
“The pool is going great. Overall, it’s everything we had hoped it to be,” Community Wellness Manager Jessica Lively said. “It’s so nice seeing new faces and families every day and equally as rewarding seeing repeat guests every week. We have created the culture we want at the facility and having that creates a safe and fun environment for everyone.”
Lively said that the revitalized facility has seen around 4,500 visitors in only a month’s time.
