SPRINGDALE, Utah (ABC4) — A wildfire in Zion National Park’s Hop Valley was reported to officials on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the National Park Service, the fire was burning an estimated three to five acres. The fire was first reported by a local resident around 3 p.m.
The fire caused closures of the Hop Valley Trail, and an alert was issued on the park’s website.
“Hop Valley Trail is closed due to wildfire. Firefighters from NPS and partners are actively addressing the flames. Kolob Terrace Road is open/not effected,” the online alert said.
Officials did not initially provide more information about the fire or what may have caused it. This article will be updated as more information is released.
