SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — The Springfield YMCA locations made sure Christmas came early this year.
The YMCA has two locations in the capital city and each one collected for a different cause. On Monday, they delivered those gifts.
One set of gifts went to a senior living community on Springfield’s west side, and they brought a lot of essentials the seniors need to get by.
“Some of the seniors don’t get out to shop,” said Lou Bart of the Springfield YMCA. “Some heavier items, a lot of people were surprised but there were a lot of Kleenex on the list. Socks, robes, coffee, coffee mugs.”
They also brought toys to kids living with foster families in Sangamon County. The YMCA locations were given lists of what the 30 kids wanted, and they were able to complete all of their lists this year.
